What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista position at Ridgetop Coffee and Tea?
Ridgetop Coffee and Tea is an independent coffee shop and café located in Sterling VA. We are a community based, community focused business serving 300 customers a day. As a full-service coffee shop and café we seek to exceed the expectations of each of our customers. Owned and operated by Riverside Church, we are a family friendly environment in which we work hard, have fun and seek to make a difference in our community.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares and serves specialty coffee, espresso and tea beverages
- Follows all recipe and presentation standards and is fully knowledgeable with all beverage menu offerings
- Provides friendly and high-quality service by welcoming guests and engaging with them throughout their experience
- Operates all barista station equipment according to standards and stays consistent with product delivery during high volume periods of time
- Maintains a clean and sanitized environment and keeps espresso bar stocked
- Follows opening and closing procedures/checklists and correctly calibrates espresso machine at the beginning of day and as necessary
- Follows all health and safety guidelines
- Completes all side work tasks and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
- Punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance
- Able to work flexible shifts and schedules, inclusive of weekends, and some holidays
- Willing to contribute to a positive team environment
- Prior experience in the food service industry
- Open to cross training on food prep and Café Associate duties
- Experience with the preparation of espresso drinks preferred

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
