- Direct traffic during accidents, road closures, construction, parades, sporting events, emergencies, or power outages.
- Respond to traffic-related calls for service, including disabled vehicles, roadway hazards, and hit-and-run crashes.
- Conduct DUI investigations, including standardized field sobriety tests and breath testing when certified.
- Operate speed detection equipment such as radar and LIDAR.
- Assist stranded motorists with vehicle problems, flat tires, or arranging towing services.
- Testify in court regarding traffic citations, crash investigations, and criminal traffic offenses.
