Veterinary Technician
Ridgefield Veterinary Center is a 2-doctor small animal hospital located in the beautiful town of Ridgefield, CT. We are an independently owned practice and have been serving the local community for over 50 years. Responsibilities:
- History taking and maintaining medical records.
- Assisting doctors with exams, treatments and procedures.
- Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
- Administering SQ fluids, medications, etc.
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
- Filling prescriptions.
- Surgical preparation and assisting. Monitoring anesthesia.
- Providing compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients.
Qualifications/Essential Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year experience as a Veterinary Technician, including the monitoring of anesthesia.
- Certified or licensed technicians preferred, but not required.
- Kindness and empathy with clients over the phone, by email and in person. Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Experience with AVIMARK practice management software is an asset, but not required.
- Familiarity with, or an openness to learn, Fear-Free or a less is more approach to restraint and handling.
Salary will be commensurate with experience, starting at $26/hr. Benefits are available to eligible employees and we offer an employee pet discount.
