Ridgefield Veterinary Center is a 3-doctor animal hospital located in the beautiful town of Ridgefield, CT. We are an independently owned practice that has been serving the community for over 50 years. Join our Fear Free veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care! In this energetic role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians by assisting with daily clinical tasks, animal handling, and client communication. Responsibilities:
- History taking and maintaining medical records.
- Assisting doctors with exams, treatments.
- Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
- Administering SQ fluids, medications, etc.
- Filling prescriptions.
- Providing compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients.
Qualifications/Essential Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year experience in the animal field.
- Kindness and empathy with clients over the phone, by email and in person. Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Experience with AVIMARK practice management software is an asset, but not required.
- Familiarity with, or an openness to learn, Fear-Free or a less is more approach to restraint and handling.
