- Oversight and continuous improvement of all high school special education programming, including inclusive practices, alternative programming, and transition services
- Ensuring compliance with IDEA, including IEP development, evaluations, PPT processes, and legal timelines
- Supervision and evaluation of special education staff, related service providers, and paraprofessionals, including coaching and professional growth
- Collaboration with building and district leadership to support access to curriculum, co-teaching models, and student outcomes
- Design and delivery of professional learning to build staff capacity in meeting diverse learner needs
- Management of complex student cases, including high-needs programming, family communication, and coordination with outside providers
- Participation in budget and resource planning, including staffing, program development, and outplacement considerations

- Eligibility for Connecticut certification as an Intermediate Administrator. Endorsement 92 in addition to possessing certification as a special education teacher.
- A record of superior performance as a special education teacher and evidence of successful school leadership.
- A strong academic record, both undergraduate and graduate.
- Substantial knowledge of high school curriculum and instruction, special education law, intellectual curiosity, strength in staff development, a respect for children and a love of learning.
- Experience with co-teaching and similar inclusion models.
- Knowledge of the PPT process and developing IEPs.
- Displaying grace and sensitivity when working with families of disabled students.
- Understanding of 18-22 programing, alternative programming, transition programming, and alternative placements.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, administrators and the community.
- A steady composure, grace under pressure and a willingness to try new things.
