Duties
- Assist opticians and ophthalmologists in measuring, fitting, and adjusting eyewear to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction.
- Prepare and process medical records, including medical coding, billing, and documentation within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Epic.
- Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including taking vital signs and gathering medical history related to ophthalmology and pediatrics.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform basic optical repairs or adjustments as needed.
- Support retail sales efforts by educating patients on lens options, frame selections, and insurance benefits while ensuring excellent customer service.
- Follow strict HIPAA guidelines to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with clinic operations by managing appointment scheduling, verifying insurance information, and ensuring compliance with aseptic techniques during procedures.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology practices, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health.
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms; familiarity with medical billing and coding processes.
- Laboratory experience with optical equipment; ability to perform basic repairs or adjustments on eyewear.
