Ridge Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Staff Development Coordinator (RN/LPN) to join our leadership team. This position is ideal for a nurse who is passionate about education, professional development, and supporting clinical excellence. As the Staff Development Coordinator, you will play an essential role in onboarding new team members, coordinating staff education, and helping ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care.

Position Summary

The Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating educational programs for nursing staff. This role oversees orientation, competency assessments, required in-service training, and ongoing staff development while working closely with nursing leadership to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and promote best practices in resident care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate orientation for newly hired nursing staff.

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct mandatory in-service education and continuing education programs.

  • Perform competency assessments and skills validations for nursing personnel.

  • Monitor nursing licenses, certifications, and required education to ensure ongoing compliance.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and facility leadership to identify educational needs and implement training initiatives.

  • Assist with employee health requirements, including tracking required screenings and immunizations.

  • Maintain accurate records related to staff education, competencies, and regulatory compliance.

  • Support quality improvement initiatives through education, coaching, and staff development.

  • Mentor and support new and existing nursing staff to promote clinical excellence and professional growth.

  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and resident-centered care.

  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in North Carolina.

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience; long-term care experience preferred.

  • Previous experience in staff education, training, or nursing leadership is preferred.

  • Knowledge of long-term care regulations, nursing standards, and clinical best practices.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems is preferred.
