Part-Time Driver SPOT Southwest Community Shuttle & On-Demand Service
Ride Connection, in partnership with Washington County, is excited to now have SPOT Southwest, a brand-new, no-cost, on-demand transportation service designed to better connect residents of south Beaverton, particularly those in South Cooper Mountain, River Terrace, and Progress Ridge, with the places they need to go. This service helps fill a critical gap in areas underserved by public transit and offers customers a convenient way to travel using an app or phone, similar to rideshare services.
SPOT will pick riders up and take them where they want to go within the service zone, including one stop outside the boundary at Washington Square Mall. Rides are shared whenever possible and will be provided with 14-passenger buses.
We’re seeking a compassionate, reliable, and customer-focused Drivers to join our team and help bring this innovative service to life.
About the Role
As a Driver for the SPOT Southwest service, you’ll play a meaningful part in helping community members get around safely, easily, and at no cost to them. You will operate both scheduled community shuttle routes and on-demand trips throughout the south Beaverton area and surrounding neighborhoods. Riders will request trips using a user-friendly mobile app (or by phone), and you’ll help ensure they have a smooth, comfortable experience every time.
This is a non-exempt position with a pay range of $21.14–$26.43 per hour, starting pay depends on directly comparable experience.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–10:00 PM
Vehicle: Ride Connection’s SPOT 14-passenger bus
Service Area: South Beaverton (South Cooper Mountain, River Terrace, Progress Ridge) with access to Washington Square Transit Center
What You’ll Do
- Safely transport customers throughout the service area using both fixed route and on-demand assignments.
- Provide same-day trips that will including shared rides.
- Assist customers with boarding and exiting the vehicle when needed, prioritizing comfort and safety.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism, patience, and respect.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols, especially when serving passengers with mobility challenges.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain proper fuel levels.
- Communicate effectively with the Program Manager and dispatch team to ensure efficient operations.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 5 years of licensed driving experience, as recorded by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds and safely secure mobility devices.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Comfort using smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to pass a National Criminal Record Check (fingerprinting required). *Findings will be reviewed and may not exclude candidates in some cases
*This role may be subject to Federal Transit Administration (FTA) “Safety Sensitive” requirements, including participation in the Drug & Alcohol testing program (pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion).
