We are a growing manufacturer of custom retail fixtures serving nationally recognized retail customers. Our operations include wood manufacturing, metal fabrication, and final assembly across three manufacturing facilities in North Carolina, west of Charlotte. We are seeking an experienced Integrated Management Systems (IMS) & Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join our leadership team and help drive continuous improvement across our organization.


Position Summary

The IMS & EHS Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards. This position also oversees environmental, health, and safety programs across three manufacturing facilities, ensuring compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental regulations while promoting a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.


This is a highly visible leadership position that partners with executive leadership, engineering, production, maintenance, and operations to improve performance, reduce risk, and support sustainable business growth.


Schedule: Full-time, First Shift, Shelby, NC


Primary Responsibilities

Integrated Management Systems (ISO)


Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

Lead surveillance and recertification audits.

Plan and conduct internal audits at all manufacturing facilities.

Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Maintain controlled documentation, procedures, and records.

Facilitate Management Review meetings.

Monitor quality, environmental, and safety objectives and KPIs.

Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.


Environmental Management


Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Maintain environmental permits and regulatory reporting.

Oversee hazardous waste management and recycling programs.

Ensure proper chemical handling and storage.

Support sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.

Coordinate environmental inspections and corrective actions.


Health & Safety


Lead company-wide safety programs across three facilities.

Maintain compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.

Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

Investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents.

Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and required documentation.

Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).

Coordinate workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs.

Lead emergency preparedness planning and drills.


Training & Employee Development


Develop and deliver safety and ISO-related training.

Coordinate new hire orientation.

Manage annual refresher training requirements.

Coach supervisors on safety leadership and compliance.

Promote employee involvement in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.


Leadership Responsibilities


Serve as the company expert for ISO management systems and EHS compliance.

Advise executive leadership on regulatory changes and business risks.

Develop annual EHS and IMS objectives.

Report KPI performance to senior leadership.

Build a positive culture focused on quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Interface with certification bodies, regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, and customers during audits.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required


  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Quality, Industrial Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


  • Minimum five years of manufacturing EHS and/or ISO management experience.


  • Experience maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.


  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.


  • Experience leading internal and external audits.


  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.


  • Ability to work independently across multiple facilities.


Preferred


  • Certified ISO Lead Auditor.


  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP).


  • OSHA 30 certification.


  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.


  • Experience in wood manufacturing, metal fabrication, or industrial assembly.


  • Knowledge of NFPA combustible dust requirements.


  • First Aid/CPR Instructor certification.
