Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Operating Room Manager for our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), working five days a week. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical and managerial expertise, with a strong background in surgical services, patient care, and team leadership. This role involves overseeing daily OR operations, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, and maintaining optimal patient outcomes. Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of medical documentation, EMR/EHR systems, and surgical procedures across various specialties including orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, Pain,and more. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the ambulatory surgery center, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
- Coordinate surgical schedules and manage staffing to optimize OR utilization while maintaining compliance with HIPAA.
- Supervise surgical teams including nurses, technicians, and support staff; provide mentorship and performance evaluations.
- Ensure all procedures follow aseptic technique and infection control guidelines; oversee sterile processing and specimen handling.
- Manage patient assessments and preoperative preparations.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using EMR/EHR systems.
- Facilitate communication between surgical teams, anesthesia providers, and administrative staff to ensure seamless workflow.
- Monitor quality metrics related to patient care, infection rates, and procedural outcomes; implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills
- Extensive experience in surgical settings including OR experience within hospitals or outpatient centers.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in nurse management or supervising healthcare teams; experience managing multidisciplinary staff.
- Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs monitoring and physical examinations; competence in medication administration and IV insertion.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic technique; experience with sterile processing protocols.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance; experience with discharge planning and utilization review processes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care quality.
