Overview
The Waterfront Assistant is responsible for all aspects of the RYC waterfront, including assisting both the Harbor Master and Sailing Director with “hands-on” basic repair and maintenance of the harbor, small boat yard, marginal wharf, support/safety boat fleet, parking areas, regatta support and fleet management. The Waterfront Assistant will also work with various committee chairs and their committees.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, clean and repair all sections of the harbor, small boat yard, marginal wharf, storage lockers, parking areas.
- Assist Sailing Director with regatta support and fleet management.
- Maintain grounds and storage area.
- Ensure that there is fuel, supplies, and safety equipment for the safety boats.
- Ensure that all club boats are cared for and stowed properly for the program’s duration.
- Ensure that all boat safety equipment, including radios, is available and properly used.
- Keep updated inventory of all motorboats, trailers, spare parts, etc.
- Report any support boat mechanical issues to the Sailing Director for timely repair.
- Assist the Harbormaster and Sailing Director with any towing, moving boats from slip to slip, and launching support boats for RYC events.
- Perform safety checks as related to wind, water, electrical, and moorage.
- Report any significant maintenance or compliance issues to the Harbor Master and Sailing Director.
- Ensure that there is overlapping support to cover any physical absences of the Harbormaster and/or Sailing Director.
- Additional duties and tasks may be assigned by the Harbor Master, Sailing Director and/or Club Manager
Experience
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is desired.
- Electrical experience is desirable; familiarity with ohmmeters is a plus.
- Proficiency in English is required for effective communication within the team and with clients.
- Skills in residential maintenance is similar to much of the work in the marina.

Pay: $25.50 - $40.50 per hour
