Job Description:
Perform road repair and maintenance, clear rights-of-way and ditches, and maintain signage throughout Richmond Township. Perform repair, maintenance and construction tasks related to roads, rights-of-way, culverts, ditches, bridges, parks, cemetery, and various other municipal grounds and facilities. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Roadman Supervisor.
Supervise the activities of part-time staff members; submit time sheets for crew members; assist in the hiring process for maintenance workers; call in part-time workers as needed.
Working with the part-time staff, the Roadman will:
· Prioritize work as assigned
· Operate all vehicles, tools, and equipment in a safe manner
· Maintain township roads including but not limited to filling potholes, installation of culverts, and shouldering roads
· Mowing and trimming
· Brush and tree removal to clear roadways and ditches
· Maintain signs throughout the township including 911 signs and posts
· Supervise road maintenance vendors as necessary
· Maintain inventory of parts, supplies, and equipment
· Work with others to comply with ordering and receipting procedures
· Operate and supervise ice control and snow removal operations
· Operate light to medium equipment including dump trucks, trailers, large lawn mowers, woodchippers, chain saws, and other power and hand tools
· Maintain records on vehicles and equipment
· Develop procedures for all maintenance functions on vehicles and equipment
· Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment
· Perform repairs on vehicles and equipment as needed
· Identify when outside repairs are needed and obtain approval to coordinate repair work
· Perform facilities maintenance (town shop, hall, salt shed, garage) as time allows
· Coordinate contractor work on facilities
· Prepare and deliver timely and accurate reports on work completed
· Provide input on equipment purchases and budget process
· Maintain a valid Wisconsin CDL License and current DOT FedMed card
· Pass driving record check by the WI Dept of Motor Vehicles
· Successfully complete required drug and alcohol testing
· Ability to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height
· Physical ability to operate the Town’s mechanical equipment
· Perform other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
