Join a highly accomplished team in a city dedicated to growing arts and culture in the role of the Annual Fund Manager, a nine month temporary full-time position beginning September 1st. What exactly would I do?

As the Annual Fund Manager, you will embody the Symphony's core values of inclusion, passion, quality, innovation and welcoming. You will have direct responsibility for raising $800,000 annually through annual fund, direct mail and digital strategies, so much of your time will be devoted to the attainment of this goal. Your day may be spent developing and delivering a donor appeal or working in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to analyze trends. You may be reporting on key metrics such as response rates, gift size, donor pipelines or project expenses. You could be meeting and collaborating with outside vendors or internal departments regarding initiatives, projects or events. Several evenings or weekends each month will find you attending a Symphony concert, stewardship activity or fundraising event to engage with patrons and build relationships.

 

What qualifications and skills do I need?

A bachelor’s degree and five to seven years of full-time experience in front-line fundraising, public relations, creative writing, sales, retail management or campaign finance is required. Donor database knowledge is a must, preferably in Bloomerang.  Availability to work a robust schedule of evening performances, donor and community engagement events as well as office time is required. Budget development and management experience is a plus. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to keep the big picture in mind, a keen ability to connect with donors, strong interpersonal and strategic thinking skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively is key to success.

 

 What’s the compensation and benefits?

This is a full time temporary position with an annual salary of $50,000 - $55,000. Benefits include health, dental, telemedicine, vision, disability and instrument insurance, a flexible spending or health savings account, flexible paid time off, sick leave, free parking, and a 403(b) plan. While a combination of in-person and remote work is possible, residing in the Richmond area is a must. A strong presence and participation at evening and/or weekend events, concerts and other activities is expected.
