Minimum Qualifications
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the division’s network & serve as the technical point of contact.
- Hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting major network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, as well as, servers, storage arrays, wireless controllers, and backup/cloud-based solutions from vendors like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Cisco, Ruckus, Dell, HP, EMC, or Juniper is necessary.
- Hands-on experience with large scale computer imaging for Windows, Chrome OS, Apple iOS, JAMF, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (formerly SCCM).
- Hands-on experience with virtual environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Deep expertise in network protocols and architectures is essential, including TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, LAN, WAN, and wireless networking principles.
- A strong understanding of network security practices, including intrusion detection systems, access controls, and data protection policies.
- Knowledge of cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), software-defined networking (SD-WAN/SDN), and automation/scripting/patching (PowerShell, Python) is valued.
- Must possess excellent customer service, organizational and planning skills along with excellent communication and public relations skills.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and performance analysis tools like Wireshark or SolarWinds is required for proactive management and problem-solving.
- Must have familiarity with CAT 5E, 6 wiring standards and previous network wiring experience.
- Knowledge of wireless network design and concepts is required.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and effectively manage multiple priorities while being adaptable to changing priorities and able to simultaneously handle multiple assignments within deadlines.
- Must have the ability to work efficiently under pressure to resolve network outages whenever they occur.
- Must be able to communicate efficiently in technical or simple terms as appropriate to end users, staff, and management.
- Must have the personality and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school staff, employees and other customers.
- Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality regarding records, sensitive information, district documents, and systems.
- Ability to work with school staff to assess, diagnose, mitigate, and resolve connectivity issues within the building LAN/WAN by reviewing network documentation, observing reported symptoms, and tracing physical connections.
- A deep understanding of client operating systems such as Windows, MacOS, and Linux, including configuration, troubleshooting, and security.
- Ability to install, configure documents, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot endpoint computers, network switches and routers and other network devices.
- Experience with specialized tools used for deploying images and software across multiple devices simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of software systems and workstation hardware configurations.
- Proficiency in creating, maintaining, and deploying standardized computer images to new or existing machines to ensure consistent and efficient setups.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS to manage user access, computer accounts, and apply Group Policies for managing desktop environments effectively and consistently.
- Associates degree from an accredited institution in the field of Computer Science, or related field.
- Five years experience in system administration, IT infrastructure, and/or endpoint management related services.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Must possess a comprehensive understanding of computer/network security practices.
- Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Endpoint Configurations Manager, PowerShell, Multi-platform Operating Systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Patch management.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with technical staff, administrators, school personnel and contractors.
- Desire to learn new technologies and stay current with emerging trends and technologies.
