Richmond Middle School is seeking a versatile and skilled educator to fill a dual-responsibility role. This individual will split their time between providing direct academic and behavioral interventions for middle school students and managing a 504 plan caseload to ensure equitable educational access. The ideal candidate is a skilled interventionist who is capable of facilitating whole class instruction and maintaining meticulous documentation. Position begins August 24, 2026, open until filled.

 

This position is governed by the HEA Union Agreement.

Salary range for this position is $55,545 to $114,221, depending on education and experience.

POSITION TITLE:  INTERVENTIONIST - 504 COORDINATOR

General Purpose:

Split position that provides direct academic and behavioral interventions for middle school students and manages a 504 plan caseload to ensure equitable educational access.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:



Interventionist

  • Deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions in literacy, math and executive functioning for students in grades 6–8.
  • Collaborate to design and implement Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavioral interventions.
  • Work closely with the other 504 coordinator and RMS Tier 2/3 MTSS Team to design and implement a Guided Study-Interventionist model that builds on the successes of the current Guided Study model and allows for delivery of small group and individual interventions 
  • Monitor student progress using formal and informal assessments; adjust intervention strategies based on data trends

 

504 Coordinator

  • Handle all 504 Transitions: coordinate 504 in-take process and exit process. 
  • Oversee the identification, evaluation, and placement of students under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Schedule and lead 504 team meetings, ensuring parents, teachers, and relevant specialists are active participants.
  • Draft, finalize, and distribute 504 Accommodation Plans that are legally compliant and practically implementable in a 6–8 classroom setting.
  • Facilitate communications with interested parties in order to inform drafting, updating and revising 504 plans.
  • Manage the calendar for annual plan reviews and three-year re-evaluations to ensure no deadlines are missed. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that 504 Record Keeping is maintained according to Federal and State laws.
  • Provide 504 Student Support through regular student meetings. Provide problem solving/coaching to students who are having difficulty accessing accommodations, mediate conversations with students and teachers when there are questions about access to accommodations. 
  • Oversee study program, offering support/guidance to staff in the area of executive functioning, learning methods, and best study practice.  
  • Provide support to staff who are having difficulty meeting accommodations, mediate conversations with students and staff when there are questions about accommodations.
  • Assist staff in facilitating accommodations that may need to happen outside of the classroom;  provide training, in conjunction with counseling and Special Ed, as necessary to educate staff about disabilities and accommodations.
  • Attend weekly Pupil Services Team meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Two to Four (2-4) years of relevant experience

  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks.

 

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certified Teacher
  • General Special Education or School Counselor endorsement preferred

Other Considerations and Requirements:

The physical demands of an employee in an interventionist/504 coordinator role are minimal.  The employee is occasionally required to do some lifting.  Employee is typically able to sit and stand as needed.
