Job Summary

The Vice President of Retail Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for RMHFH’s ReStore network. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding community engagement, and leading high-performing retail operations that directly support the organization’s affordable housing mission.

This position provides executive-level leadership for multi-location retail operations and is responsible for financial performance, operational excellence, team development, and community engagement. The Vice President will develop and implement strategies to increase sales, donations, and volunteer participation while ensuring consistent retail standards across all locations. In addition, this leader will cultivate a collaborative, unified team culture between ReStore locations, strengthening alignment, communication, and shared accountability. The role will require proactively rebuilding trust and repairing strained relationships between sites to create a cohesive, high-functioning retail network.

The Vice President serves as a member of the senior leadership team and represents the organization externally with donors, business partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders.

This role requires a strong retail leader with experience in multi-unit retail operations, with thrift, resale, home improvement, furniture, or building supply experience strongly preferred.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership and Growth

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to support sustainable growth and increased revenue across all ReStore locations
  • Establish annual and long-range goals for revenue growth, operational performance, and community impact
  • Identify opportunities to expand ReStore visibility, customer base, and donation partnerships
  • Analyze operational performance and provide strategic recommendations to the COO, CEO, and Board of Directors
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen the role of ReStores as a major funding source for affordable housing programs
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to align retail operations with Habitat’s mission and strategic priorities

Financial Management and Revenue Development

  • Develop and manage annual fiscal budgets, revenue forecasts, and expense plans for ReStores
  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual revenue goals
  • Drive sales growth through effective merchandising, inventory management, and retail best practices
  • Monitor key performance indicators including sales, donations, margins, and inventory turnover
  • Analyze sales trends and operational performance and provide regular reporting to leadership
  • Ensure strong financial controls including cash management and loss prevention
  • Ensure resources are used effectively to maximize mission impact

Retail Operations Leadership

  • Lead multi-location retail operations with a focus on strong financial performance and operational excellence
  • Establish consistent retail standards across locations including merchandising, pricing, and customer experience
  • Ensure stores are clean, safe, organized, and fully operational
  • Oversee inventory flow including product donations and procurement
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and safety standards are maintained
  • Promote a culture of customer service excellence for shoppers and donors
  • Implement operational improvements that increase efficiency and profitability

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop store managers and retail leadership staff
  • Build engaged and high-performing teams focused on achieving results
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and staff development across ReStore operations
  • Support leadership development and succession planning
  • Promote a positive and mission-driven workplace culture
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives
  • Provide performance management and coaching as needed

Volunteer Engagement and Community Participation

  • Promote strong volunteer engagement within ReStore operations
  • Develop strategies to increase volunteer participation and retention
  • Partner with the Volunteer Department to expand volunteer opportunities within ReStores
  • Ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into store operations
  • Support corporate volunteer events and community service initiatives
  • Train staff to effectively engage and support volunteers
  • Promote ReStores as a key entry point for community involvement in Habitat’s mission

Donations and Partnerships

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Procurement to grow revenue and maintain strong inventory flow
  • Develop relationships with local businesses, contractors, and donors to increase product donations
  • Support initiatives that increase donation volume and quality
  • Represent RMHFH with community partners and business stakeholders
  • Support outreach efforts that expand ReStore visibility and engagement

Operational Compliance

  • Oversee cash management, loss prevention, and operational compliance
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures
  • Maintain safe working environments across all retail locations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and safety requirements

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience
  • 6–10 years of progressive retail leadership or multi-unit management experience
  • Experience leading teams and developing leaders
  • Strong financial acumen and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Experience managing budgets and revenue targets
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation

Preferred

  • Experience in thrift, resale, or mission-driven retail
  • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
  • Experience managing multi-location retail operations

Impact Statement

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
