Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care by performing physical examinations, vital sign assessments, and detailed patient evaluations.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests, imaging procedures (e.g., CT scans), and specimen collection/processing.
- Manage acute pain and chronic conditions through tailored treatment plans, including wound suturing and airway management.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop discharge planning, case management strategies, and long-term care plans for diverse populations including geriatrics and individuals with disabilities.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers, or post-acute settings like hospice & palliative medicine or memory care units.
Experience
- Proven experience working in acute care environments such as hospital medicine, ICU, emergency room, or trauma centers.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
- Strong background in managing complex medical conditions such as infectious disease care, occupational health cases, or cardiology procedures like catheterization.
- Experience with specialized nursing practices including dialysis support, ostomy care, ventilator management, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with coding systems such as ICD-10/ICD-9 for diagnostic evaluation and CPT coding for procedures is preferred.
- Prior work in long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of HIPAA standards for medical documentation and patient confidentiality is essential.
