Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Insurance Billing Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in ensuring that clients can access care without financial barriers. The Insurance Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of insurance claims and reimbursement—supporting our mission of making high-quality mental health care accessible and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform timely and effective follow-up on outstanding insurance claims.
- Research, document, and resolve payer denials and underpayments.
- Review account activity and ensure accurate, detailed information to secure payment from government and commercial insurance payers.
- Rebill claims and track appeals through to resolution.
- Interpret and post Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) and other payments.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding balances, payment plans, and billing questions.
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and protect all patient health information.
- Collaborate closely with our internal billing and administrative teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Perform other billing and revenue cycle tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in insurance billing, accounts receivable, or healthcare revenue cycle management required.
- Strong understanding of EOBs, ERAs, and insurance claims processes.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Valant preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
