POSITION: TECHNICIAN
REPORTS TO: Technology Coordinator
SUMMARY:
260 Days
Salary based on Richmond Community Schools Technology Salary Schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be present, on time and ready to work.
Installation of hardware and software, stand alone/networked.
Troubleshoot computers and peripherals.
Instruct adults in the use of equipment and software.
Stay abreast of current technologies.
Lifting and traveling within the school district is required.
Ability to organize and lead a team for district projects.
User and Vendor liaison for technical problem resolution.
Maintain inventory/licensing of hardware and/or software.
Purchase related hardware and software for district use.
Assigned to multiple buildings.
Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Technology.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience working with hardware/software systems resembling those used at RCS.
Ability to make persons comfortable with computers as tools for educational use.
Excellent communication skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:
Valid Driver’s License.
EDUCATION:
Degree and/or Certification Preferred.
REASONING ABILITY:
Reasoning skills are required.
Must be able to work on independent and team projects.
Must be able to prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Time management skills are required.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
Good vision to read a variety of materials.
Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
Must be able to type on computer keyboard, laptop keyboard, and other types of electronic devices.
Must be able to work on computer, monitors, and other electronic devices that are connected to electrical outlets. Some outlets are under furniture, requiring the person to crawl under furniture, etc. to access outlets.
Some work requires use of soldering tools, hand tools, and power tools.
Must be able to climb and work on ladders.
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders & horizontally.
Walking, bending at the waist, kneeling and crouching.
Considerable manual dexterity with tools.
Ability to work under stressful conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Traveling within school district required.
Must have own vehicle. Occasionally will use corporate vehicles.
Must be able to interact with other people on a daily basis.
Primary work environment indoors.
