What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelver position at Richland Library?
Richland Library is seeking to hire a Part-Time Shelver at our Main location.
Sample Duties:

Effectively demonstrates characteristics of being enthusiastic, outgoing, and strongly customer-service oriented, including the application of Richland Library’s customer engagement standards.

Greets customers & successfully ascertains individualized needs and/or requirements for each customer.

Engages, encourages, and assists diverse customers in all areas of the Library in a welcoming, professional, and respectful manner.

Serves as main point-of-contact when Shelver supervisor and Collection Development Director are not present.

Serves as liaison between Shelver supervisor and Main Library Shelvers.

Provides Shelver training.

Shelves books and related materials in all areas of the library.

Keeps public areas neat and in order.

Maintains shelves in correct alphabetical and numerical order or in order according to other appropriate criteria.

Maintains displays of materials.

Communicates and interprets general Library policies and procedures to colleagues and customers.

Performs other associated duties as required, such as emptying bookdrops, pulling holds, assisting other staff with projects.

Shifts collection as needed.

Assists shelver supervisor during evaluation process.

Performs other associated duties as required or assigned.
Requirements:

Completion of high school or equivalent.

Specialized subject knowledge or skills developed through work experience and/or education where appropriate.

Ability to perform job functions.
Location, Salary & Hours:
Where: Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201
Salary: $15.75 per hour
Hours: Approx. 15 hours per week
Monday - Thursday & Saturday (12:00pm - 3:00pm)
Job Classification Level 102 (FLSA Status: Non-Exempt)
** Richland Library may change location and schedule of any library job.
