BASIC FUNCTION/SCOPE:
A robotics coach will be charged with the organization and implementation of a successful program. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop a program that is committed to the creation of student participants who demonstrate a commitment to academics, strong fundamental skills, cooperation, and team/community pride.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other Duties May be Assigned.)
- Recruiting: Finding students and adult mentors to participate in the robotics program
- Training: Teaching students about engineering design and how to apply it to building, programming, and testing robots
- Assisting: Helping students design and build robots, and troubleshooting mechanical and programming issues
- Coordinating: Scheduling build sessions and competitions, and acting as a project coordinator for the season
- Supervising: Attending and supervising students during competitions
- Communicating: Keeping students and families informed about team activities
- Supporting: Encouraging the learning process while allowing students to make decisions, and cheering for teams during matches
- Evaluating: Reviewing a team's engineering notebook and providing feedback on game and scoring strategies
- Administering: Registering teams and performing other administrative tasks
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Exhibit manual dexterity, see and read a computer screen and printed materials with or without visual aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors, and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand you clearly
- Reaching, carrying, pushing, bending, climbing stairs, and handling items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Listening and speaking to communicate with students, parents, community members, other workers and supervisors
OTHER:
- Must have strong knowledge of fundamental skills, rules, and strategies of the sport being coached
- Exhibit strong behavior management techniques
- Must be willing to meet any state, district, or school requirements
- Hired candidates will have required background check
- All applicants will be required to submit to an independent background investigation prior to a job offer being made
- CPR Certification is encouraged
