Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable school district custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff. This semi-skilled maintenance role involves ensuring classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained during the hours of 3 pm to 11:30 pm. The ideal candidate will play a vital part in creating a positive school atmosphere by performing cleaning, groundskeeping, and light maintenance tasks that support a healthy learning environment. Candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing excellent custodial services.
Responsibilities:
Clean and disinfect classrooms, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other school areas to promote a healthy environment.
Assign cleaning tasks according to schedules and ensure timely completion.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces regularly.
Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in good working condition.
Perform groundskeeping duties such as mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, raking leaves, and outdoor maintenance.
Remove snow from walkways and driveways; assist with plowing as needed.
Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to appropriate personnel promptly.
Follow safety procedures and handle cleaning chemicals responsibly.
Assist with setting up facilities for school events and activities.
Ensure common areas are clean and organized to support a positive learning environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience is advantageous.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and outdoor groundskeeping.
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
This position is in person at our school facilities.
