Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair HVAC/R systems including air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment, boilers, and mechanical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Perform installations of HVAC system components with precision, adhering to safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment to optimize performance and extend lifespan.
- Troubleshoot electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and identify issues within electrical systems or building automation systems.
- Repair plumbing components related to HVAC/R systems and ensure proper integration with mechanical systems.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to repair or replace components such as compressors, fans, valves, motors, and welders when necessary.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document all repairs or installations performed for quality assurance.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain repairs or maintenance procedures while providing excellent customer service.
- Follow safety protocols including handling refrigerants like ammonia refrigeration and ensuring EPA certification compliance for refrigerant management.
- Use hand tools proficiently for equipment troubleshooting and repairs in various environments including property maintenance settings.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician specializing in HVAC/R systems with a solid understanding of refrigeration, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, and mechanical systems repair.
- Construction experience or background working on large-scale building automation systems is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC system installation, maintenance, and repair across diverse environments.
- Knowledge of schematics, HVAC design principles, boiler operation, appliance repair, welding techniques, and property maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues efficiently using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters or specialized HVAC testing devices.
- Mechanical knowledge complemented by experience with hand tools and equipment repair in field service settings.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for field service operations involving travel between job sites.
