Overview
The Communications Manager works closely with the Chief Communications Officer to develop, refine and execute strategies and tactics in support of the Foundation’s communications goals. The Communications Manager’s primary responsibility is the project management and tactical execution of external communications projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field or an equivalent amount of experience
- 3 years of related professional experience
- Top notch writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP Style preferred
- Experience writing and editing various types of content
- Experience executing content and engagement via multiple social media platforms
- Keen attention to detail
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Teams) and an email distribution platform
- Ability to both work collaboratively and independently while managing multiple projects
- Thrives in an environment of growth and change
- Excellent judgment, integrity and commitment to personal responsibility and accountability
Responsibilities
- Creates various types of written content, including, but not limited to, newsletter content, byline articles, website content and stakeholder communications
- Creates and executes social media content and the Foundation’s monthly newsletter
- Assists with project management and implementation of external communications projects, including Vitality Magazine videos, report creation, media relations initiatives and website content
- Assists in the planning and coordination of the Foundation’s major events, convenings and announcements
- Conducts research in preparation of reports, memos, presentation materials, charts, etc.
- Assists with document retention
- Stays up to date on developments in communications best practices through research, attending pertinent conferences and meetings
- Pursues ongoing professional development opportunities and participates in training sessions
- Assists in preparation for quarterly Board meetings
- Represents the Foundation at philanthropic and community events and meetings
- May serve on nonprofit boards and/or working groups as a Foundation representative
- Supports the Chief Communications Officer and other Foundation staff on additional assignments
