Dock Builder
Project Duration: Multi-Year Heavy Civil/Marine Construction Project
Compensation: $55 per hour
Position Summary
Richard E. Pierson Construction Co. is seeking experienced Dock Builders to join our team for a long-term marine construction project in Edgemere, Maryland. This position is ideal for skilled tradespeople with experience in pile driving, structural steel installation, welding, burning, and heavy marine construction.
The successful candidate will work as part of a professional marine construction crew building docks, bulkheads, piers, and other waterfront structures while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform dock, pier, bulkhead, and marine structure construction and rehabilitation.
- Assist with pile driving operations, including installation of steel and concrete piling.
- Perform structural welding and steel fabrication in the field.
- Safely use oxy-fuel cutting torches and other burning equipment for fabrication and demolition.
- Install structural steel, decking, walers, bracing, and related marine construction components.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
- Work from barges, temporary work platforms, and other marine access equipment.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Work closely with crane operators, pile driving crews, welders, and project supervision to complete work on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all company and OSHA safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in marine construction, dock building, pile driving, heavy civil, bridge, or structural steel construction.
- Experience with pile driving operations is required.
- Proven experience with structural welding and oxy-fuel cutting (burning).
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in outdoor and marine environments.
- Ability to read construction drawings and follow detailed instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Reliable transportation to the project site in Edgemere, MD.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Structural Welding Certification (preferred but not required).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction certification.
- Experience working from barges or over water.
- Experience on heavy highway, bridge, or marine infrastructure projects.
