Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Records Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining medical records in accordance with established protocols and regulations. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient information within our medical office environment.
Responsibilities
- Organize, maintain, and update medical records in electronic and paper formats.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding medical recordkeeping.
- Review records for accuracy and completeness, correcting any discrepancies as necessary.
- Utilize medical terminology to accurately code and categorize patient information.
- Assist healthcare providers with accessing patient records as needed for treatment purposes.
- Implement systems for efficient retrieval and storage of medical records.
- Train staff on proper record management practices and the use of record systems.
- Respond to requests for information from authorized personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managing medical records within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
