Duties & Responsibilities

  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate medical histories and physical examinations for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions within the provider’s scope of practice.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests based on the patient’s age, condition, and clinical needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies.
  • Develops and implements individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical findings.
  • Provides routine primary care, preventive care, physical examinations, wellness visits, and health screenings.
  • Provides age-appropriate immunizations and preventive services as permitted by scope of practice and facility policies.
  • Evaluates and treats common acute illnesses, minor injuries, infections, and other primary care conditions.
  • Provides appropriate women's health and men's health services within the provider’s scope of practice and clinical privileges.
  • Provides patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, and disease prevention.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions and modifies treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Identifies changes in a patient’s condition and initiates appropriate interventions, referrals, or escalation of care.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other multidisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to specialists and other healthcare professionals when indicated.
  • Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between healthcare settings, including hospital admissions, transfers, discharges, and follow-up care.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely patient medical records and clinical documentation.
  • Facilitates patient and family decision-making by providing education, counseling, and support.
  • Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and other clinical initiatives as required.
  • Provides care in accordance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, professional standards, and applicable clinical guidelines.

  • Ability to provide accurate and effective care in stressful situations
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare staff
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related advanced practice nursing field preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in the Nurse Practitioner role preferred
  • Family Medicine, Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, or related clinical experience preferred
  • Experience providing care across the lifespan preferred
  • Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
  • Current Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC) certification
  • Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • PALS provider card as required by department and facility
  • Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority, as applicable
  • Current Texas APRN licensure and appropriate prescriptive authority
