Substitute Food Service Worker

Summary
We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to fill the role of Substitute Food Service Worker at our cafeteria. This position is essential in ensuring that daily food service operations run smoothly in the absence of regular staff members. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food service and a commitment to providing excellent service to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with established guidelines and safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
• Help with inventory management by receiving and storing food supplies, as well as monitoring stock levels.
• Follow food safety and sanitation practices to ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Support the regular staff in various tasks as needed, including setting up and breaking down food service stations.
• Provide excellent customer service by interacting positively with students, staff, and visitors.
• Assist in the training of new staff members as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in food service or kitchen environment is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
