Rice Fergus Miller is seeking a Lead Interior Designer to join our growing Hospitality team, focusing on hotels, gaming/casino, conference centers, retail, and spa environments. This senior, client-facing role requires a designer with 10 years of experience, ready to lead complex, multi-phased hospitality projects from concept through construction, manage client relationships, and mentor project teams.

Essential Functions

  • Project Leadership: Lead the interior design vision for hospitality projects, ensuring design excellence and alignment with brand identity and guest experience.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as the primary client contact, facilitating meetings, presentations, and design reviews with owners, operators, and stakeholders.
  • Design Development: Develop concept designs, FF&E strategies, finishes, and visual narratives that define project character.
  • Team Mentorship: Mentor and guide project teams, providing direction on design intent, documentation, and quality control.
  • Technical Documentation: Oversee preparation of Revit-based construction documents, specifications, and procurement packages, ensuring compliance with applicable building design and construction, fire, life-safety, and energy codes, standards, regulations, and guidelines for the purpose of obtaining a building permit.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure cohesive, high-quality interior environments.
  • Budget and Schedule Management: Manage project budgets, FF&E procurement, and schedule adherence while delivering design excellence.
  • Business Development: Support business development and proposal efforts by representing RFM’s hospitality expertise.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 10 years of professional interior design experience, with significant exposure to hospitality projects (hotels, casinos, conference centers, retail, spas).
  • Licensure: NCIDQ certification or in progress; LEED AP or WELL AP certification a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in concept development, FF&E design, multi-phased project documentation, and brand-driven hospitality design.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and visualization software (Enscape/Lumion).
  • Communication: Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and other regulations pertinent to interior design.
