The Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment used to receive, process and transport solid waste at the Rice County Landfill. Directs truck drivers where to dump loads and screens all material brought to the landfill to ensure proper disposal.

- Moves garbage from public drop sites and commercial loads to specific areas in the landfill and maintains landfill properly.
- Covers garbage with specified amounts of soil, and replaces soil if needed, according to MPCA rules.
- Performs daily maintenance on all equipment used in the department.
- Performs building and grounds maintenance to promote a clean and safe work environment.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
HIRING RANGE / UNION: $25.86 - $27.02 per hour
HOURS: Normal business hours are Monday thru Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm and some Saturdays 7:30am – 11:30am. Position is fulltime, 40 hours per week. May occasionally need to work outside those days and hours.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: 49ers Union – Grade 7
**Bargaining unit members shall be paid two dollars ($2.00) per hour in addition to the wage on the salary schedule of the CBA for all hours worked, ending on December 31, 2027.
