Rice Community Health seeks a Part Time Cook at Rice County Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Lyons, Kansas to join our team and play an integral role in providing excellent care to our patients. JOB SUMMARY:
As a Food Nutrition – Cook you will prepare and cook meals for patients, employees and visitors working from established recipes and menu cycles. Will also operate commercial and large-scale cooking equipment and appliances. Will receive guidance and supervision from Support Services Supervisor / Support Services Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews menus for Meals on Wheels and hospital menus to prepare and organize services in a timely manner.
- Monitors adjustments in patient dietary information to update current records and adjust services accordingly.
- Coordinates and assists other kitchen staff with meal preparation, serving and distribution for the hospital and Meals on Wheels to support and ensure a productive work environment.
- Operates and monitors kitchen appliances to maintain temperature, environment, and food storage safety and prevent food waste.
- Executes and maintains a clean workspace to ensure a food safe environment.
- Works well under pressure and can multitask, abilities to switch tasks at a short notice.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May assist or act as a substitute for other kitchen staff when needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Work well in team setting.
- Ability to perform using basic math skills.
- Effective communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum, some high school; must be at least 16 years of age, 18 to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
- Previous commercial food service experience preferred, but not required.
