Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Chef to join our Rice and Roots team. The ideal candidate must be able to memorize the full menu and efficiently multitask between preparing phở, cooking meats, and executing a variety of main dishes. This role requires strong familiarity with Vietnamese and broader Asian cuisine, along with a commitment to maintaining authentic flavors and high-quality presentation.
Candidates must be dependable and willing to arrive before opening hours to assist with food preparation, as well as stay after closing to help clean the kitchen, sanitize workstations, and take out the trash. The Chef will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations, uphold food safety standards, and provide guests with consistently excellent dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Vietnamese dishes, including phở, grilled meats, stir-fried plates, and specialty menu items.
- Memorize the full menu and ensure consistency, accuracy, and timely preparation of all dishes.
- Maintain food quality, flavor authenticity, and presentation standards.
- Assist with daily prep work, including chopping ingredients, making broths, marinating meats, and portioning supplies.
- Work efficiently during peak service hours while maintaining a clean and organized workstation.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Arrive before opening to assist with kitchen setup and preparation.
- Stay after closing to clean equipment, sanitize surfaces, wash dishes, and take out trash.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and communicate effectively to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock items to management.
Pay: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
