Position Summary
The Director of Purchasing is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and alignment with organizational objectives. This role develops and executes purchasing strategies, manages supplier relationships, controls budgets, and optimizes inventory levels. The Director also provides leadership to the purchasing team and works collaboratively across departments to support business operations and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement purchasing strategies that optimize costs, streamline processes, and support business objectives.
  • Supplier Relations: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to establish strong partnerships and secure favorable contracts and terms.
  • Financial Oversight: Create and manage the purchasing budget, track spending trends, and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Process Management: Oversee the complete purchasing cycle, from requisition through delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, balancing availability with cost efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team while effectively delegating responsibilities.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, legal standards, and industry regulations.
  • Collaboration: Partner with internal departments to forecast demand and align procurement activities with operational needs.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on KPIs, purchasing activities, and supplier performance to drive continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may include direct supervisory responsibilities for members of the purchasing team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, with 5 years of relevant experience; or 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a management role within purchasing or supply chain.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop long-term procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable supplier terms.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in evaluating purchasing trends, market data, and financial performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for managing teams and building cross-functional partnerships.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
