JOB DESCRIPTION: Elementary Classroom Apprentice Teacher
Reports to: Classroom Teacher
The mission of the Apprentice Teacher is to support the Classroom and teacher in implementing student learning plans and ensuring that our students with learning services needs grow.
This is done by: meeting with student groups, communicating with instructional staff about student needs and plans small-group classes based on specific growth goals, tracking progress of goals, meeting with grade band team to discuss plans for the upcoming week and supporting classrooms by covering for teachers.
Responsibilities:
- Works with all students in the Classroom and with teacher's support creates a plan around meeting times and focuses.
- Participate in family meetings to share information about student's progress.
- With manager’s support, tracks data for caseload and rethinks lessons to ensure student growth is maximized.
- Communicates with instructional staff about student needs.
- With the Lower Elementary Team, ensures that classroom teachers are sending weekly educational focuses via email.
- Participates in staff meetings to share information about student progress.
- Creates support plans based on classroom focuses and student learning plans.
- Meet with manager to ensure that the plan that has been created aligns with the student learning plans.
- Facilitates communication with families regarding student progress, classroom management, lesson planning, and behavioral goal support.
- Acts as a substitute teacher in the classroom, as needed.
- Actively participates in all staff, learning services, and one-on-one meetings.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Minimum of a High School diploma. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of staff members.
- Positive approach to a high-paced environment.
