Rib Mountain Glass provides comprehensive residential and commercial glass services from its location on Wood Duck Lane in Wausau, WI. The Residential Division specializes in insulating glass replacement, in-stock and custom mirrors, custom shower doors and enclosures, pattern glass for cabinets, and screen sales and installation. The Commercial Division delivers complete glass and glazing services, including in-house engineering and fabrication of entrance doors, storefronts, curtainwalls, vestibules, and glass railing systems, followed by on-site installation. The company also collaborates with Window Enhancements LLC on commercial and residential window tinting projects, offering applicants exposure to a wide range of glass solutions and installation environments.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Commercial Glazier role based in Wausau, WI. The Glazier will install, repair, and replace glass in commercial settings, including windows, doors, storefronts, and specialty glass systems. Daily tasks include measuring openings, fitting glass, preparing frames, applying sealants, and ensuring proper alignment and secure installation of all glass components. The role involves reading and interpreting work orders and drawings, working with fabrication and installation teams, safely operating tools and equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The Glazier will also interact with customers and contractors on job sites, providing professional communication and service while adhering to safety standards and company procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong skills and experience in window installation, repair, and replacement for residential and commercial projects.
- Proficiency in glazing tasks, including measuring, cutting, fitting, sealing, and finishing glass components.
- Experience working with doors and related glass systems such as entrance doors and storefronts.
- Effective customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally on job sites and in the shop.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or shop drawings and follow detailed work orders.
- Internal drive to notice problems early, prioritize important tasks and act promptly to meet customer expectations and schedule timelines.
- Comfort with using hand and power tools, working at heights, and lifting glass and materials safely.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a glazier, carpenter, or in a related construction trade preferred; relevant apprenticeship or vocational training is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around Wausau, WI.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts.
Preferred (but will train):
- Experience with curtain wall, storefront systems, and door hardware
- Familiarity with aluminum window and storefront fabrication
