Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our small but busy mom and pop shop clinic. This role offers an opportunity to work with a rheumatologist and primary care provider. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in supporting patient care, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and documenting current complaints
- Measure and record vital signs accurately
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and injections following proper protocols
- Support physicians with procedures such as X-ray imaging or minor surgical interventions
- Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR systems) with accurate patient information
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as specimen collection or basic testing when applicable
- Support medical administrative functions including appointment scheduling
- Prior authorization of drugs / imaging studies
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical-surgical practices
- Proficiency with EHR systems
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) certifications and emergency procedures
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including geriatrics and inpatient care
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as outpatient clinics
