Surf Instructor - Summer 2026 (Flexible Schedule, Beach-Based)
Rhody Surf is hiring surf instructors for the 2026 summer season.
Typical instructors work 2–4 set days per week (15–30 hours), with options for morning-only or full-day shifts.
This is not your typical seasonal job. We are building a reliable, high-energy team and offering flexible schedules that actually work for you. If you enjoy the ocean, working with people, and being active outdoors, this is a great fit.
What makes this role different
- Choose 2 to 4 consistent days per week
- Morning shifts (8:30–11:30), full-day shifts, or a mix
- Work outside on the beach all summer

What you will do
- Lead surf lessons for individuals and small groups (beginner to intermediate)
- Teach fundamentals like paddling, pop-ups, balance, and wave awareness
- Ensure safety by monitoring conditions and following water safety protocols
- Keep groups organized, engaged, and having fun
- Set up and break down equipment daily
Schedule options
- Morning-only shifts (ideal for students or second jobs)
- Full-day shifts
- Consistent weekly schedule preferred

- $18–20/hour based on experience

Requirements
- Strong swimming ability and comfort in the ocean
- Reliable transportation
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Weekend availability is a plus
Bonus if you have
- Previous surf instruction, coaching, or teaching experience
- Lifeguard, CPR, or First Aid certification
- Experience working with kids, camps, or group instruction
