What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Mechanic Level 3 position at Rhode Island Diesel?
We are currently seeking to add a heavy-duty field mechanic to our team. You will be expected to inspect, service, and maintain a range of heavy-duty equipment and diesel vehicles in a field environment. You will be working on both Heavy equipment and Heavy-duty trucks in all weather conditions and various environment from inside a garage, to a job site and on the road for various levels of roadside assistance. You should have a strong ability to perform computer diagnostics, understanding of diesel emissions; with five years or more of diesel truck repair required. You will be responsible for inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance. We work predominately on heavy duty trucks but are expanding into heavy equipment. The perfect candidate would be an experienced heavy truck mechanic with a strong ability to learn and understand hydraulics, so that you may become a key part of our equipment repair program. We do offer incentives for obtaining ASE certifications with reimbursement for an exam passed. A valid driver's license and medical card are required to operate the company service truck. You will be responsible for keeping a clean and organized service truck. Keeping an accurate inventory of parts and shop equipment on the service truck. Please remember this is a field and roadside position; you may have times where you are working at our shop, but the expectation is that you will be willing to work in any and all weather conditions. Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
Driver's license with medical card
Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.
Understanding of computer testing technologies and diagnostics (JPRO software)
Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment
Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
Ability to work as a team as well as alone.
Good communication skills
Experience with both electronic and electrical repairs. Preferred
CDL a plus (but not required
Certification as a heavy equipment mechanic
ASE certifications
Experience with JPRO Software
