Position Overview

The successful candidate will teach foundational psychology courses, including introductory psychology, research methods, social psychology, human development, and/or child psychology, while maintaining an active research agenda and supervising student research. Additional responsibilities include academic advising and participation in departmental, college, and professional service activities. The department seeks a collaborative educator with college-level teaching and research experience who is committed to supporting students.

Essential Duties
  • Teach courses as needed at the undergraduate level, including some combination of courses in introductory psychology, research methods, social psychology, human development, child psychology.
  • Teach foundational psychology courses such as introductory psychology, social psychology, research methods, human development, child psychology.
  • Maintain a program of research.
  • Supervise student research.
  • Provide academic advising for students.
  • Participate in professional service activities at the departmental, college, community and/or national level.


Occasional Duties

Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Ability to teach courses in introductory psychology, social psychology, research methods, human development, child psychology.
  • Knowledge about the needs of diverse student learners.
  • Ability to conduct research.
  • Ability to supervise student research.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.


Required Qualifications
  • Master's in psychology.
  • College teaching experience in the areas to be taught is essential, and research experience in psychology.


Preferred Qualifications
  • PH.D in Psychology.
  • Ability to teach a range of foundational courses such as introductory psychology, research methods, social psychology, human development, and child psychology.
  • Ability and commitment to involving students in research.


Environmental Conditions

Teaching/instruction is performed in a traditional classroom setting with opportunities for online/hybrid formats.
