- June 30, 2028 this position will be part-time at 66%.
The RIC-FSEHD Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program (RTAP) Coordinator will coordinate the program in collaboration with the Institute of Labor Studies and Research (ILSR)-RTAP Coordinator.
Primary Purpose
The RIC-FSEHD Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program (RTAP) Coordinator will coordinate the program in collaboration with the Institute of Labor Studies and Research (ILSR)-RTAP Coordinator.
Essential Duties
- In collaboration with the ILSR, develop a comprehensive assessment of prior experience for all program applicants. Applicants applying to this program will be selected by school districts participating in the RTAP sub-grant.
- With a target of 10 program participants in the first year, assess RTAP applicants' credentials into the program and coordinator the admissions process.
- Create individual apprenticeship plans of study for candidates admitted into the program.
- Collaborate with the Dean's Office, FSE!ID faculty and staff on curriculum, program selection, course scheduling and clinical field experiences required for certification sought by candidates. This includes:
- candidates enrolling in courses at RIC
- candidates completing courses at the ILSR or the Central Falls Hub, which will include courses for RTAP candidates and teaching assistants interested in completing the course.
- designing clinical field experiences for candidates that meet state requirements for certification in collaboration with the FSEHD Office of Partnerships and Placements.
- Develop the process for annually assessing candidate proficiency aligned with all FSEHD programs and RIDE educator preparation requirements.
- Collaborate with the FSEHD Director of Assessment for record keeping and essential data to document and evaluate candidates from admission through completion and certification.
- Report to the RI Apprenticeship Joint Apprentice Training Committee on progress and implementation of the program and candidates at RIC.
- Report to the RIC RTAP Co-Principal Investigators. These positions are currently held by the FSEHD Interim Dean and Interim Associate Dean.
- In collaboration with the Director of Assessment, create metrics to evaluate impact of the RTAP program.
- Convene monthly meetings with the RIC RTAP faculty advisory committee.
- Collaborate with RIC Office of Partnerships and Placement, the ILSR Coordinator, and schools and districts to provide guidance and support to school-based Apprentice Mentors and teachers.
- The coordinator will teach/co-teach 1 course per semester as needed to support RTAP candidates.
- The coordinator will create and facilitate a monthly community of practice for all RT AP candidates.
- Occasionally working outside regular hours to meet the needs of candidates in the program.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean and Associate Dean.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Proficient in Google Suite.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Bachelor's in Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field .
- 3-5 years in program coordination or administration experience, with executive communications, basic budgeting and measurement, meeting planning & execution, and reporting experience.
- Master's in Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, Educator-preparation-degree-and-teacher-certification.
- 2-4 years' teaching or school coordination experience.
