What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator/Laborer position at Rhino Excavation and Trucking LLC?
Rhino Excavation & Trucking is hiring one experienced operator to join our small crew.
This is not a job where you'll sit in one machine all day doing the same thing. Every project is different, and we are looking for someone who enjoys variety and can adapt to whatever the customer needs.
The Work
We do much more than excavation. Depending on the project, you could be doing:
- Foundations
- Land clearing
- Roads and driveways
- Septic installations
- Utility trenching and tie-ins
- Retaining walls
- Rock work
- Waterfall and landscape features
- Grading and finish work
- General excavation
- Site preparation
This year we have completed more hardscape and landscape projects than road work, so there are days when you'll spend more time building retaining walls, installing rock, or helping with landscape projects than running equipment. We operate skidsteers and excavators.
What We Need
We're looking for someone who can be lined out on a job and work independently or sometimes work with a small crew. Once we explain the project, you should be able to complete the work, communicate if questions come up, and represent our company professionally.
Daily Responsibilities
Every operator is required to:
- Take before, during, and after photos of every project for liability, production records, and social media.
- Clock in and out using your phone.
- Enter detailed job notes when clocking out. These notes are used for billing, customer updates, and office communication since office staff are typically not on the job site.
- Communicate with the office through text messages during the day.
- Drive a company truck to job sites.
- Use a company credit card responsibly. Every purchase must be approved, labeled with the job name, and include what was purchased and why.
Requirements
- Heavy equipment operating experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (you will have a work truck and it will be parked back at the shop at end of shift).
Who Will Be a Good Fit
We're looking for someone who:
- Takes pride in quality work.
- Can switch between operating equipment and labor when needed.
- Shows up on time.
- Communicates well.
- Is dependable and honest.
- Wants to be part of a small, hardworking team.
- Good attitude
This position is not a good fit for someone who only wants to sit in one machine doing the easiest work. We need someone who is willing to do whatever the job requires and who understands that every project is different.
If you're looking for a place where your work matters and you're willing to do what it takes to get the job done right, we'd love to hear from you.
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
