This role requires expertise in large-count ribbon fiber splicing and testing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of our fiber optic networks, ensuring high-quality connections and reliable performance.

Responsibilities
As a Traveling Outside Plant Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge. This role requires expertise in large-count ribbon fiber splicing and testing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of our fiber optic networks, ensuring high-quality connections and reliable performance.
In Addition, You Will
- Perform large count ribbon fiber splicing in both outdoor and indoor environments
- Conduct optical testing and troubleshooting using appropriate testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.)
- Collaborate with installation crews to plan and execute installation projects efficiently
- Follow industry best practices for fiber handling, splicing, and testing
- Ensure work complies with safety standards and regulations
- Document all splicing and testing results accurately for project records
- Assist in the design and implementation of fiber optic network infrastructure
- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians as needed
- Travel to various job sites as required, often with short notice
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Work in outdoor utility construction sites
About You:

- You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
- You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work
- You are looking for long-term projects

- You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in fiber optics preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in outside plant fiber splicing, with a focus on large count ribbon fiber
- Proven experience with fiber splicing tools and testing equipment
- Strong understanding of fiber optic network design and installation
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and physical environments
- OSHA 10 certification and railroad right-of-way experience are a plus
- Fiber engineering knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, and understanding of light levels and dB loss, are required
