- 4/10 DAY SHIFT (4 10-hour days)
- 4/10 NIGHT SHIFT (4 10-hour nights)
- 2-2-3 DAY SHIFT (12 hours, 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on)
The Demilitarization (DEMIL) Operator is responsible for safely handling, dismantling, destroying, or otherwise rendering inoperable military equipment, munitions, weapons systems, and sensitive materials in accordance with federal regulations and organizational procedures. This role requires strict adherence to safety standards, attention to detail, and the ability to work in controlled environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform demilitarization operations on assigned materials, including disassembly, cutting, crushing, burning, or other approved destruction methods with varying degrees of automation
- Follow all Department of Defense (DoD) and company-specific codes, guidelines, and compliance requirements
- Operate specialized tools and machinery such as, but not limited to, saws, torches, grinders, and specialized industrial equipment
- Conduct inspections of materials prior to and after demilitarization to verify proper classification and destruction
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and destruction records for audit and compliance purposes
- Handle hazardous materials, including explosives, chemicals, and classified components, safely in accordance with OSHA and applicable environmental regulations
- Work closely with safety officer to ensure proper PPE usage, hazard mitigation, and emergency response readiness
- Support inventory control, material tracking, and secure storage of sensitive items
- Participate in training related to safety, equipment operation and regulatory updates
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and communicate by oral notification and written forms
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner and operate with minimal supervision
- Ability to obtain and maintain an ATF background check
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to perform basic mental math calculations
Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Background Prerequisites
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, controlled substance testing and pre-employment physical.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in manufacturing and/or explosives handling is preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, military logistics, or hazardous materials handling is beneficial
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Ability to lift 25lbs frequently, and lift up to 60lbs occasionally
- Ability to handle explosives and ordnance safely
- Ability to exchange information by seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing
- Ability to operate in a warehouse environment under unfavorable weather conditions (both heat and cold)
- Overtime work without advance notice
- Exposure to and requirement to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Maintaining a standing/walking position 90% of time
- Safely operating machinery with appropriate training and work instructions
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment to include safety glasses, protective boots, ear plugs, and gloves
