SUMMARY:
The District Sales Manager's role is to grow the Raypak business by defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and controlling the activities within his/her defined geography and accounts. The DSM reports to a Regional Sales Manager (RSM) and participates as an active member of their Regional Commercial Water Sales Team.
It is the defined responsibility of the DSM to work with the RSM and Regional Team to foster open dialogue, develop a team environment and culture, create a strong morale and spirit within the team, promoting the sharing of wins, successes, and challenges.
Territory
Southern California Market geography includes San Luis Obispo County, South to but not including Diego County, West to the California Arizona/Nevada border.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
1. Selling: The DSM’s primary responsibility is supporting our Raypak Business Partners who have front line responsibility for day-to-day sales and market activities with Raypak end users. The DSM will participate with our Business Partners in a sales and training support role by making sales visits with our Business Partners, training, and coordinating/participating in local/regional trade shows and events to facilitate and add value to the selling process.
2. Territory Planning: The DSM must continually develop knowledge of the business climate, applications and competition within his/her defined geography and accounts. The DSM will develop, maintain, and execute a territory plan. The DSM will continually assess current Water Heating / Hydronic channels, develop and evaluate their performance, and manage conflict ensuring alignment with Territory plans. The DSM will provide training on Raypak products, applications, and sales processes, and will provide/facilitate training and education to all levels of the sales channel.
3. Business Development: The DSM will seek to protect and grow market share by developing strategic core relationships with property ownerships, professional property management, related industry trade organizations, strategic DHW/Hydronic service contractors, strategic plumbing and mechanical contractors, and plumbing and mechanical specifying engineers within the Territory.
3. Reporting:
1. The DSM will maintain data relative to partners, accounts, and activities, and will document customer interactions as needed to support CRM system.
2. Forecasting Reporting: The DSM will prepare quarterly sales planning for their respective areas of responsibility.
3. The DSM completes and maintains and communicates quarterly and annual Territory plan updates with Raypak Business Partners.
4. Expense Reporting: The DSM is responsible for managing the overall expense budget for their assigned regions in accordance with specific Raypak policies and procedures.
5. Time Management: Effectively utilize the Outlook calendar function for advanced schedule planning.
6. Other: Additional reports may be required from time to time.
4. Continuing Education and Learning: The DSM will take part in continued Education and Training programs and seminars, offered through and by Raypak and Rheem to obtain and advance product, market, and technical knowledge.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 3-5 years Water Heating and Hydronic sales experience.
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience.
- HVAC systems and heat pump technology knowledge a plus.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain productive key business relationships within all levels of the business (Raypak Business Partners, business owners, engineers, service contractors, wholesalers to name a few).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to details.
- Professional sales skills including key account strategies and planning.
- In-depth knowledge of the large volume Water Heating / Hydronic market segment and a general knowledge of the other Raypak target markets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of boiler systems used within the Water Heating / Hydronic market.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective product and training presentations for all sizes of audiences both internal and external customers.
- Ability to start with “the end in mind”, then work backwards to develop strategies, action plans, and goal measurements.
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as Microsoft 365 application programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook) as well as a strong adaptable aptitude for learning and applying new systems, programs, and processes.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Must be able to travel locally 80% of the time. Some out of state and overnight travel will be required.

Payscale for this role based in California is: $85,600-$105,000. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria”.
