The physical heart of Rhee Brothers is our main distribution center in Hanover, MD. Our warehouse and transportation teams handle over 20,000 cases of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products every day. Food quality is paramount to our customers and we pride ourselves on the safety and cleanliness of our 230,000 square-foot warehouse. Rhee Bros is a third party food safety audited facility.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for developing, monitoring and managing the inbound procurement strategy emphasizing product availability and service level, balanced against inventory performance and operations constraints. This includes directly leading, managing and supervising the Procurement team; overseeing inbound logistics; and co-managing the company’s inventory with operations teams.
Purchasing responsibilities includes: directly supervising the Demand Planner and Inventory Planners (Buyers) to create forecasts and to plan, place timely and accurate orders, and monitor/facilitate the delivery of those PO’s to a distribution center. Collaborates with Sales and Marketing on inventory strategies for sales and promotion planning.
Inbound logistics responsibilities includes: Supervising an Import Coordinator who oversees inbound international freight and manages the customs process. Collaborates with the Managers of Transportation and the Warehouse.
Management of inventory includes: Collaborating with the warehouse Inventory Control Team to identify and reconcile inventory discrepancies. Additionally, this responsibility area requires managing movement between the warehouse and off-site storage facilities for excess inventory. Creating inventory outlook reports for internal and external customers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop purchasing strategies that align with supply chain strategies and objectives laid out by the Director of Supply Chain.
- Team Builder: Ability to train employees and learn quickly.
- Supervise, manage and lead team of Inventory Planners(Buyers), a Demand Planner, Import Coordinator and Supply Chain Analyst I to successfully execute purchasing strategies
- Monitor current and on-order inventory to identify and correct inventory gaps
- Analyze data from receipt processes to find bottlenecks and other issues, resolving issues that arise in the moment (e.g., vendor shorts, delays in delivery, sourcing logistics)
- Evaluate and report on procurement KPIs (Service Level, Inventory Obsolescence, Inventory Turns)
- Monitor inbound logistics to make sure they run smoothly, communicate and negotiate with ocean freight vendors
- Maintain inventory and purchasing records
- Produce and manage annual expense budgets for the purchasing team
- Collaborate with other departments to create coordinated plans for business growth
- Ensure purchasing processes meet legal requirements and standards
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- 2 years’ work experience in a Supervisory/Leadership role required
- 2 years experience in Food Industry, preferably Asian food.
- Experience with SAP HANNA, SAP MRP, SAP APO, GDA (Blue Yonder), Oracle, Blue Ridge preferred but not required.
- 4 years’ work experience as a Purchaser/Buyer required
- Bachelor's in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or similar relevant field required
- Hands-on experience with Forecasting software required
- Proven productive ability and experience with collaboration across departments to accomplish organizational strategies in the areas of Purchasing Management
- Proven people focused leadership/management style
- Highly proficient in English language both oral and written communication skills required'
