Position Summary:
Boston Medical Center Health System (BMCHS) is seeking a Director of Events to lead the strategy, planning, and execution of fundraising-focused events. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, this leader will oversee a dedicated events team and collaborate with colleagues across Development and hospital leadership to grow revenue, engage donors, and shape the future of BMCHS’s events program. The ideal candidate is a proven fundraiser and manager with the creativity, initiative, and presence to inspire teams and donors alike.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic events plan to meet fundraising and engagement goals.
- Partner with Major Gifts and Corporate teams to drive sponsorships, donor cultivation, and volunteer engagement.
- Set and track event metrics to measure outcomes, maximize ROI, and inform planning.
- Manage event committees, co-chairs, and a small portfolio of signature event donors.
- Coach, mentor, and oversee staff, consultants, and contractors.
- Deliver exceptional donor and guest experiences from registration through execution.
- Leverage events to build donor relationships and expand engagement across BMCHS, including its newly added hospitals.
- Provide strategic input to hospital leadership for donor engagement at events.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 10 years of nonprofit event management, including 8 years leading teams and driving revenue.
- Strong background in fundraising within complex organizations (healthcare or higher education preferred).
- Proficiency with fundraising and event software (Raiser’s Edge NXT, GiveSmart, Whova, etc.).
- Demonstrated success in revenue generation through events.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
