Position Summary
The Engineering Manager, Military Programs, is responsible for leading engineering teams in the planning, development, execution, and support of aerospace and defense programs for U.S. military customers. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and program management experience to ensure delivery of innovative, reliable, and compliant solutions that meet stringent defense requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, systems, and software).
- Build technical capability within the team and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Provide technical expertise and oversight for military program engineering activities from concept through delivery and sustainment.
- Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, and performance requirements while maintaining compliance with U.S. DoD standards and customer expectations.
- Act as the engineering focal point for program managers, customers, and senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with applicable military standards, specifications, and quality regulations (e.g., MIL-STD, AS9100).
- Collaborate with supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and operations to resolve technical issues.
- Represent engineering in customer meetings, design reviews, and audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
- 8 years of engineering experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Department of Defense programs, requirements, and acquisition processes.
- Experience leading engineering teams on complex military or aerospace programs.
- Working knowledge of relevant industry and military standards (MIL-STD, ITAR, DFARS, AS9100).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Customer-centric mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Continuous improvement orientation with a focus on measurable outcomes.
