What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at RGR Construction and Roofing, LLC?
About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Construction Project Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for a mix of roofing and general construction projects. You'll work closely with our project managers and ownership to scope jobs, price materials and labor, and help us win the right work at the right margins. We are actively developing our use of AI to assist in our estimating function and you will also have the opportunity to assist with this.
What You'll Do
- Review project plans, specs, and site conditions to develop accurate cost estimates
- Prepare detailed takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment across roofing and general construction scopes
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Build and present bid proposals to ownership/management
- Track material and labor cost trends to keep estimates current
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth handoff from bid to build
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and awarded contracts
- Assist in teaching AI agents to multiply human efforts and take over repetitive tasks
Skills
- Proficiency in estimating software
- Knowledge in residential construction methods and processes
- Excellent negotiation skills for securing favorable pricing with vendors and subcontractors.
- Deep understanding of construction management software systems for cost tracking and reporting.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading techniques combined with construction drawing review expertise.
- Ability to estimate material costs accurately blueprints and drawings
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Construction site experience that enhances understanding of on-the-ground realities influencing estimates.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
