Meteorologist

Oceanography Officers (METOC) are geophysical experts supporting the Navy’s mission by analyzing meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, and related fields to ensure operational success.

• Provide environmental data support for fleet and joint operations, enhancing navigation, safety, and combat effectiveness.
• Lead teams of 3-400 personnel across sea and shore assignments worldwide, including at sea on various vessels and ashore at command centers and research facilities.
• Receive specialized training, including IWBC and BOAT courses, with opportunities for advanced education at the Naval Postgraduate School.
• Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, completion of calculus and physics courses, and eligibility for security clearance.
