RF Mobile Service, LLC is seeking a Level II Mobile Diesel Mechanic/Technician with at least 5 years of technical knowledge and experience to support our growing mobile field operations. This position is ideal for a mechanically skilled technician with solid hands-on experience who can perform repairs independently while continuing to develop advanced diagnostic and system-level skills under senior technicians and management.
This role involves mobile, off-site service work performed in all weather conditions, supporting fleets, owner-operators, and commercial customers.
Position Overview
The Level II - Mobile Diesel Mechanic functions at a moderate skill level, capable of diagnosing and repairing common diesel and equipment issues with limited supervision. This role supports Tier III technicians on advanced diagnostics and complex repairs when needed, while still handling a wide range of standard service calls independently.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, trailers, medium-duty trucks, AG equipment, and select heavy equipment.
Perform mobile roadside and off-site repairs in all weather conditions.
Perform maintenance and repairs on systems including:
- Hydraulic systems
- Electrical and electronic systems
- Fuel systems and basic fuel injection components
- Braking and air brake systems
- Suspension and steering components
- Cooling and basic HVAC systems
- Utilize diagnostic tools and scan equipment to identify faults and complete repairs.
- Assist Tier III technicians with complex diagnostics, advanced repairs, and large jobs.
- Communicate effectively with off-site support staff, dispatch, customers, vendors, and supervisors.
- Order parts and coordinate pickups using purchase orders (POs) as directed.
- Maintain organized service documentation including service orders (SOs), receipts, and job notes.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain assigned service truck in a clean, safe, and professional condition.
Requirements
High school diploma OR GED required.
AND
2 years of Technical or trade school education in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment, or fleet repair certification plus 3 years of experience, field or shop.
OR
A combined total of 5 years of Diesel/Heavy Equipment/Trailer repair/services and maintenance.
Valid and clean driver's license (Class A or B preferred, not required).
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card.
Must pass drug testing and agree to random testing.
Must pass a background check (certain criminal histories may affect eligibility).
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to operate manual transmissions. Preferred (Not Required)
Basic welding experience (MIG or Stick).
Exposure to mobile service or roadside repair environments.
Skills & Expectations

Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow into a Tier III role.

Pay & Work Structure
Hourly Pay: $18–$30/hr, based on experience and demonstrated skill level.
Overtime opportunities available.
Overtime begins after 8 hours worked in a single day.
